Changing Your Plan

How to upgrade or downgrade an Intratec subscription plan and when changes take effect.

Upgrading Your Plan

Can I move to a higher plan before my year is up?

Yes. Subscriptions can be upgraded to a higher plan at any point while your subscription is active — you do not need to wait until your renewal date. The upgrade takes effect immediately after payment is confirmed, and your new subscription term starts from that point for a full year.

What will I pay when I upgrade mid-subscription?

When you upgrade mid-cycle, you pay the difference between the annual fee of the new plan and the prorated value of the time remaining in your current plan.

The calculation works as follows: take the full annual fee of the new plan, then subtract a prorated credit for the unused time still ahead in your current cycle. You pay the new plan's full fee less that credit, and your subscription then runs for another full year.

How do I upgrade my current subscription plan?

To upgrade your subscription plan, follow these steps:

  1. Log in at www.intratec.us with your email and password.
  2. Click on Subscriptions in the left menu.
  3. Locate the subscription you want to upgrade and click Upgrade Plan.
  4. Select the new plan and proceed through the checkout.

Upon payment confirmation, you will immediately gain access to the features of the new plan. Your new subscription term begins at that point and lasts for one full year.

Downgrading Your Plan

Can I switch to a cheaper plan before renewal?

You cannot directly switch to a lower plan mid-subscription. Intratec does not offer in-cycle downgrades. To move to a cheaper plan, you must cancel your current subscription and purchase a new one at the lower plan after the current billing period ends.

Your access continues until the end of the current billing cycle after cancellation — you are not cut off immediately. However, no refund is issued for the remaining time on your current subscription.

How does downgrading a subscription work?

Downgrading to a lower plan is a two-step process — there is no direct in-cycle downgrade option.

  1. Cancel your current subscription. This stops the auto-renewal, but your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
  2. After the billing period ends and your access expires, purchase a new subscription and select the lower plan and coverage of your choice.

Will I lose access if I cancel to switch to a lower plan?

Not immediately. When you cancel a subscription, your access continues through the remainder of the current billing period — you are not locked out on the day you cancel. Once the billing period ends, access stops and does not resume until you purchase a new subscription.

No refund is provided for the time remaining after cancellation, so it is worth timing your cancellation close to the end of the billing cycle if you want to make the most of your remaining access.

Plan Change Considerations

Will my price change when I re-subscribe at a lower plan?

When you cancel and re-subscribe to a lower plan, the price you pay will be whatever is in effect at the time of the new purchase. Intratec adjusts subscription fees from time to time, which means the lower-plan price may be higher than it was when you first subscribed.

Subscribers who keep their subscription on auto-renew with a credit card or PayPal benefit from fee stability — their renewal price is not adjusted while the subscription remains active. Cancelling and re-purchasing removes that protection.

What happens to unused time if I upgrade mid-year?

The unused time on your current plan is not lost — it is converted into a prorated credit that reduces what you owe for the upgrade.

Specifically, the upgrade charge equals the full annual fee of the new plan minus a prorated credit for the time you have remaining in your current cycle. After paying, your new subscription term runs for one full year from the upgrade date.

Can I change my plan coverage (e.g., add an industry)?

Yes — you can expand your coverage at any time during an active subscription. Adding coverage, such as another industry to a Primary Commodity Prices subscription or another country to an Energy Prices & Markets subscription, is handled through the same self-service Upgrade Plan flow used for plan-tier upgrades — there is no need to cancel and re-subscribe.

When you add coverage, the moment of the change is treated as purchasing the larger subscription: you pay the annual fee for the subscription with the added coverage, minus a prorated credit for the unused time on your current subscription. After payment, access to the new coverage is granted immediately and the updated subscription runs for another full year.

Coverage can only be added — existing industries or countries cannot be switched or removed mid-cycle. To reduce coverage, you would cancel and re-subscribe with the smaller set once the current period ends.
